True to our motto of "Living Languages", we would like to inspire you with our extensive program for languages and cultures. No matter whether you want to acquire language skills for your further career or whether you are simply curious about a certain language, we help you pursue your interests and goals in a pleasant learning atmosphere.
All courses are designed according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and teach you practical foreign language skills and interesting facts about the country and its people.
At the end of each course, it is possible to have your participation and the course contents certified by us. In this way, you can demonstrably add an interesting and valuable additional qualification to your curriculum vitae.
English as lingua franca and the No. 1 language of science is an integral part of our course program in every semester. With different course formats aimed at very different objectives, we prepare you optimally for the international arena of study, science and career.
Our formats for English usually include:

- Cambridge B2 First Exam Preparation
- Cambridge C1 Advanced Exam Preparation
According to our preparation courses, you can take the Cambridge certificate exams at the Cambridge examination centers in your area or you can provide the DAAD proof of language proficiency for your semester abroad at the HSHL. German as a Foreign Language
If you are on an exchange semester at the HSHL or enrolled in one of our degree programs and German is not your native tongue, then our German as a Foreign Language courses at different levels are the right choice for you. Whether you want to learn German from scratch or refresh and expand your German language skills, you will find a suitable course here. With a systematic and practice-oriented approach, you will quickly achieve the learning success you need to find your way around in everyday life in Germany.
In addition, you have the opportunity to choose the language that inspires you and that you always wanted to get a taste of from a large number of beginner courses. If you are planning a stay abroad, you will be prepared to master everyday situations in an exchange country.

In order to make languages a vivid experience for you, we also organize events such as a Norway Day or the Wissenscafés ("Knowledge Cafés") every semester. We will always inform you in good time about these special activities outside the regular course schedule.
