ZUKUNFT LICHT: LEDs Grow Plants

23.06.2021 18:00 — 19:00

Prof. Jasper den Besten, Senior Lecturer New Cultivation Systems, HAS University of Applied Sciences, Den Bosch, Niederlande spricht zu:

LEDs Grow Plants

Millions are invested in vertical farms all over the world, it seems to be booming business. What do plants need to grow, why does indoor farming actually make sense, is indoor farming really unique and why do plants grow better in such farms than in nature in fields? Some basic biology and plant physiology help to understand what is happening. A summary of what one can do with LED lights and other climatic factors in a vertical farm explain a lot already. Finally, the question is what crops in what countries can make vertical farming profitable. But can vertical farming really feed the world? In this short colloquium you will receive a lot of answers to these questions.
