The Representative Council for Severely Disabled Persons (SBV) is the elected representative body for severely disabled employees at HSHL and those with an equivalent status. Its task is to stand up for the rights and concerns of people with severe disabilities and to support them in their work. The SBV also represents employees with health impairments who are not recognized as severely disabled.
The members of the SBV are under an obligation of confidentiality. This honorary position is elected every four years by the severely disabled employees of HSHL. The legal basis for the work is provided by Section 178 of the German Social Code (SGB) IX. Among other things, HSHL representatives are members of the State Working Group of Representatives for Severely Disabled Employees at the Colleges, Universities, University Hospitals, and University-Related Institutions in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (LASH NRW).
