Since 1994, Prof. Pelzl works in the area of IT-Security. In 1997, he received the certificate as telecommunication technician from the company Bosch Telecom. Since 1999, Prof. Pelzl is working in the area of embedded IT-security. He successfully accomplished many national and international projects and released numerous related publications at renowned international conferences and in journals. Prof. Pelzl is teaching data security and introduction to cryptography for industry courses, e.g. for TÜV-Akademie Rheinland, is-its AG and Ruhr University of Bochum. Prof. Pelzl is author of "Understanding Cryptography", one of the leading textbooks for cryptography. From 2007 till 2014, Prof. Pelzl was Managing Director of ESCRYPT GmbH, a subsidiary of the Robert Bosch GmbH. Since January 2015, Jan Pelzl is Professor for Computer Security and Cyber Security at the University of Applied Sciences of Hamm-Lippstadt. Research areas include IT-Security in automotive, automation and medical devices.
