Chess Club
The club meets every two weeks on the Hamm Campus to play chess together and improve their skills. Whether you’re a beginner, an advanced player, or a complete newcomer—anyone who enjoys the game is welcome, regardless of skill level. The club is also a great way to meet new players and develop your skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.

LGBTQ+ Club
Everyone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community or would like to support it as an “ally” is welcome here.
Meetings are held twice a month—one in Lippstadt and one in Hamm.
The club’s goal is to establish a safe space for the queer community at HSHL.
The club also promotes queer events in the area. At the same time, it’s about having a good time together and organizing many new events and gatherings as a group.

Bookclub
Every month, we read new books that are selected through a club vote. We then discuss these books at our monthly meetings. Anyone who is interested in and enjoys reading and discussing books is welcome to join.
You’re also welcome to suggest your own books. We read a wide variety of genres, so there’s something for everyone.

Rock & Metal Club
For all rock and metal fans, there’s the HSHL Rock & Metal Club! At monthly meetups, the club gives you the chance to network, get to know others, and discover new music.
The club’s core idea: A shared taste in music is a great way to meet new people or go to concerts together.
The only regulation: All genres that fall under rock and metal are welcome here (except for genres associated with the far-right scene).

E-Sports und Gaming Club
The E-Sports and Gaming Club aims to connect all HSHL students interested in e-sports and gaming and to provide them with a platform for playing together, forming tournament teams, and engaging in social and cultural exchange. In addition, the club places a strong emphasis on developing skills that are highly relevant not only in e-sports but also in academic and professional contexts. These include, in particular, the ability to concentrate, problem-solving skills, decision-making, analytical thinking, communication skills, and teamwork.
Another key aspect is promoting the integration of international students. As a globally widespread and language-transcending medium, esports offers an excellent opportunity to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers. The club aims to strengthen intercultural exchange at the university and foster networking among students of different backgrounds, study programs, and semesters.

We aim to help foster new connections and collaboration and create an environment where everyone can grow. So if you’re looking for company or help, need advice, are planning to move to Germany, want to discover new cultures, or want to learn firsthand from students from all over the world, you’ve come to the right place! Build bridges with us, make friends, and create memories together.
Since this is a club with an international focus, English is the primary language spoken here.
