EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Equal Opportunities | Male | Female | Non-binary

Creating equal opportunities for all genders is one central aspect of the gender equality measures done at the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.

Empowered by support

Creating equal opportunities for all genders is one central aspect of the gender equality measures done at the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences. In order to achieve this objective, various measures are undertaken in the areas of women’s advancement and family friendliness in addition to offering information and events on gender equality.

It is the responsibility of the Equal Opportunities Officer to devise and implement gender equality-relevant measures. The Officer cooperates closely with the Presidential Committee and the Equal Opportunities Committee at multiple interfaces, is an advisory member on all governing bodies and committees at the University of Applied Sciences and integrally involved in shaping key control processes. This also includes consulting on recruitment procedures. She collaborates closely with the human resources department to implement these measures.

Overcoming obstacles

Students with a medical condition or physical impairment receive special assistance from the Representative of Students with a Disability or Chronic Illness. Offers ranging from the application process through study progress monitoring to degree completion are available to ensure that studies go smoothly and are successful.

Health or physical impairments include those that affect mobility, hearing, speech or vision as well as mental or emotional disabilities (e.g., depression, psychosis), chronic illnesses (e.g., MS, epilepsy) and partial performance disorders.

What we offer

Made for families

Romping around, playing or simply relaxing: There's no end to the possibilities of the Kids & Parents rooms at the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences. These rooms feature play corners stocked with a variety of toys for children aged 0 to 12 years. On top of that, the rooms are equipped with a changing table, a comfortable armchair and a sink. At the same time, the Kids & Parents room features a full-furnished workplace for parents to pursue their studies or do work for their job.

Mobile game box

What can you do when the day goes differently than planned, like when your child's daycare cancels at short notice? That's not a problem at all for parents who study, teach or work at the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences. They can simply take their children along to the campus. And to keep the little ones entertained, the gender equality department has a mobile game box on hand. This box can be checked out from the Equal Opportunities Office.

Curriculum planning security

For students who are caring for family members or raising children, time management can pose huge challenges. To help students better cope with these responsibilities, General Student Counseling and the Center for Knowledge Management offer a service called Priority CheckIN (PCI).
