What do cars, x-rays, and MP3s have in common? They were all first engineered in Germany! Today, Germany is one of the leading export countries of machinery and technology. This elite status is primarily owed to the German phenomenon “Der Mittelstand“. It is the small and medium sized companies that build Germany’s backbone as a global exporter of machinery and technology. Making up almost 99% of all companies in Germany, each of them has chosen to excel in specialized technologies that together comprise the highly advanced products we use every day. "The Business of German Engineering" is the topic of the 2022 Summer School of Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.
