With the Language Center you can improve your foreign language skills during your studies and prepare yourself for the attainment of internationally recognized language certificates.

True to our motto of "Experience Languages", we would like to inspire you with our extensive program for languages and cultures. No matter whether you want to acquire language skills for your further career or whether you are simply curious about a certain language, we help you pursue your interests and goals in a pleasant learning atmosphere.

All courses are designed according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and teach you practical foreign language skills and interesting facts about the country and its people.

At the end of each course, it is possible to have your participation and the course contents certified by us. In this way, you can demonstrably add an interesting and valuable additional qualification to your curriculum vitae.

Living Languages

  • Learn languages

    Expand your existing knowledge or start learning a new language in one of our diverse course formats.  We adapt our courses every semester based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels, while including insights into culture and society.

    In addition to language courses, you can also attend workshops, information events and international cafés to experience languages in many different exciting ways.

  • Language tests

    Once every semester, you have the opportunity to take the Cambridge C1 Advanced Test and get your advanced English language skills certified directly at HSHL. This is not only convenient, but also saves you certificate fees.

    If you're planning to study abroad, we also offer at least one DAAD test appointment per campus each semester. Short correction times and close cooperation with the International Office guarantee you full service during your preparations.

  • Other languages

    In addition, you have the opportunity to choose the language that inspires you and that you always wanted to get a taste of from a large number of beginner courses. If you are planning a stay abroad, you will be prepared to master everyday situations in an exchange country.

    If there is sufficient demand, we can also organize courses for other languages as well as advanced courses for you.

  • Special activities

    In order to make languages a vivid experience for you, we also organize events such as (cultural) workshops, informative events and our Knowledge Café every semester. We will always inform you in good time about these special activities outside the regular course schedule. In addition, for languages and levels not covered by our language program, licenses for Babbel are available to you free of charge.
