A systematic, scientifically based survey of students' experiences and needs in their student life cycle.
Study conditions and challenges in the course of studies
Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences will take part in the nationwide student survey as from the 2021 summer semester. The survey is part of the newly designed survey "Die Studierendenbefragung in Deutschland" ("The Student Survey in Germany"), which is coordinated by the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW). At Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences, all Bachelor students are invited by the Quality Management team via e-mail to take part in this online survey. The student survey will take place every four years and brings together various student surveys that were previously carried out separately, such as the social survey of the Studierendenwerk (student services).
The spectrum of topics covered by the student survey ranges from the social and economic situation, health impairments of students, the challenges and general conditions during the course of studies to career prospects and social values. Individual, family and institutional framework conditions of various student groups are considered in a differentiated manner.
Aim of the survey
The aim of this survey is to systematically and scientifically collect the experiences and needs of students in their everyday student life. The students are offered the opportunity to give feedback on the experience they have gained during their studies.
Survey results
The data obtained from the student survey is an important supplement to the existing survey tools "Course and Lecture Evaluation" and "Graduate Survey" and thus serves the decentralized and central units as an additional source of information for quality development and quality assurance in study and teaching and of their general conditions at Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.
In addition to the use of results within Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences, the data from the student survey in Germany is regularly incorporated into the national education report. Furthermore, the data is used for various reports that inform educational and social policy makers about the situation of students in general, but also about the special situation of students with health problems, non-traditional students, students with children, foreign students and students abroad.
