Hiking in Externsteine (Teutoburg Forest)

Let's go on a hiking adventure to the impressive sandstone rock formations of the Externsteine! We are going to explore this natural wonder in the middle of the historic Teutoburg Forest, once the site of a battle between German tribes and the Roman Empire, and check out a cute town of Horn-Bad Meinberg along the way. Our day trip will be inspired by the German fairy-tales – imagine that they took place in this very area. This hike is open to all levels and does not require any special sports condition.

The International Office and Career Service are organizing this trip for you as a part of the University Sports. We are especially looking forward to:

• Taking a train together from Hamm / Lippstadt to the Externsteine near Horn-Bad Meinberg
• Exploring the rocks and hiking around the Externsteine park (around 2 hours)
• Lunch picknick: share your snack with others!
• Outdoor flair: cooking and drinking herbal tea on the way
• Taking new Instagram pictures of German nature for your friends 😉

What to bring:

• Sports shoes and appropriate clothing (do not forget your rain jacket)
• A bottle of water that should last for the day
• A cup for our outdoor-tea
• Snacks for lunch. Please bring some snacks that you can share with the group. Maybe you have something that your family always makes for a trip like this: sandwiches, fruits, or something homemade? Let's share!
