The library – Your partner for knowledge during your studies
University life revolves around libraries. Our libraries provide you with all the media you need for your studies, including books, e-books, e-journals and databases.
Our libraries feature a variety of learning facilities that are suitable for both individual work and group projects. Whether you seek peace and quiet to write your thesis or crave to brainstorm in a group, you will always find the right space.
In addition, we give you advice on any questions you may have relating to academic and scientific work and research. We provide valuable tips and strategies on how to find and use information efficiently.
Our services are also designed to support research and teaching at HSHL. This includes acquiring literature and providing support during the publication process.
Our service desks are happy to help you with any questions you may have about the library’s services. Just talk to us!
Feel welcome!

What we offer
-
Library catalog
Our library catalog gives you an overview of all the media we provide for your studies. It encompasses books, journals, e-books, e-journals, databases and our LifeSupport collection.
-
Electronic journals
You can find the latest developments happening in the specialized fields by browsing through our electronic journal collection.
-
Databases
Need more in-depth information on selected topics or subject areas? Then use our databases! You can find a list organized by subject area here.
-
Research and teaching
- We help researchers and teaching staff achieve their objectives in academic and scientific work. We support them in their search for suitable journals or publishers, provide advice on the topic of open access, and offer information on specific funding opportunities for open-access publications (for example, through our university’s own publication fund).
- We are also happy to help you set up an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCiD) or determine the expected costs of a publication in advance.
- And if you are still trying to find specialized literature in our collection that you may need for your own research or teaching, we can acquire it quickly and easily upon request.
-
HSHL collections
- Here you can find overviews of our psychological tests, journals and newspapers on site as well as our LifeSupport collection – a compendium of useful information for everyday student life.
- Are we still missing something you need? We look forward to your suggestions for acquisitions.
-
Standards
- Standards can be researched in the Nautos database. A selection of printed standards (mainly from the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies, VDE) can be found in the Hamm library.
- If you would like to view a standard, please contact us for help.
Your on-site library
